For amounts based on your specific income, use the [Old Age Security (OAS) estimator](https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/publicpensions/cpp/old-age-security/payments.html#estimate-benefits). If you lived in Canada for at least 10 years, but less than 40 years (after age 18) you will receive a partial Old Age Security pension. Notably: * monthly payment rates will increase if the cost of living goes up * monthly payment rates **will not decrease** if the cost of living goes down **Quarterly adjustment calculations** The quarterly adjustment for all OAS benefits, including the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS), is based on the difference between the average CPI for two periods of three months each: * the most recent three-month period for which the CPI is available * the last three-month period where a CPI increase led to an increase in OAS benefit amounts ### Calculation of the July to September 2026 amounts The calculation of the July to September 2026 amounts is based on the change in the CPI between the two following periods: * February, March and April 2026, and * November, December 2025 and January 2026 When calculating the amounts, the most recent period for which the CPI is available is February, March and April 2026. The average CPI for this period is 167.1. Most recent three-month period at the time of calculation | Most recent three-month period at the time of calculation | CPI | | --- | --- | | February 2026 | 165.9 | | March 2026 | 167.4 | | April 2026 | 168.0 | | **The average for the three-month period** | 167.1 | When calculating the amounts, the last period where a CPI increase led to an increase in OAS benefit amounts is November, December 2025 and January 2026. The average CPI for this period is 165.1. **Last three-month period where an increase in the CPI led to an increase in OAS benefit amounts**| Last three-month period | CPI | | --- | --- | | November 2025 | 165.4 | | December 2025 | 165.0 | | January 2026 | 165.0 | | **The average for the three-month period** | 165.1 | The difference between these two periods represents an increase in the CPI. As a result, benefit amounts increase by 1.2%. This is calculated as 167.1 minus 165.1, divided by 165.1. ## Page details ### From: * [Employment and Social Development Canada](https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development.html) ### Give feedback about this page ## Personal information detected in your comment Comments are only used to improve our website.
