# MAID economics and refugee medical exams — ongoing coverage update

- We read relevant methods/conclusion/funding passages; we did not independently reproduce equations, demographic forecasts or cost model. Exact totals are the authors’ reported outputs, not our validated estimates.
- The clip explicitly mentions both voluntary/non-voluntary modelling. Do not falsely say it conceals the existence of both scenarios; the problem is its inference from the large result to government intent.

Printed p3 warns against interpreting the report as suggesting MAID be used to reduce costs. Use published rounded numbers; no new sum from rounded cells, no claim these are measured savings or comparable to a long-run government-wide scenario.

The rule concerns eligible protected persons already inCanada and accompanying family inCanada, previous medical/surveillance compliance, and no six-consecutive-month stay since most recent exam in designated higher-risk areas. Initial refugee-claim medical screening remains. Explanatory prose uses looser wording in places; article follows operative wording. The prior excessive-demand exemption is not a new repeal of public-health/safety screening. No MAID connection appears in the reviewed record.

Retrieved guidance requires all eligibility conditions, a voluntary request and informed consent; mental illness as sole underlying condition remains excluded untilMarch17,2027. Written safeguards do not demonstrate flawless implementation. This article reports rules, not a new court decision; existing related court coverage is preserved without expanding its allegations.

Criticism of policies and economic incentives is legitimate; the specific replacement allegation is unsupported by the records reviewed.
