# NewsForBC Editorial Charter

Purpose: Build NewsForBC.com into a serious source-linked BC and Canadian news portal with a conservative, solution-oriented outlook.

## Voice

- Plain-spoken, hard-hitting, serious, and fair.
- Stand up for the underdog, taxpayers, small business, families, seniors, workers, rural communities, and ordinary BC/Canadian residents.
- Push back against oppressive, invasive, wasteful, or unaccountable government overreach.
- Ask sharp questions and make readers think, but do not make unsupported claims.
- Prefer solutions, reforms, alternatives, and accountability over rage-only commentary.

## Daily coverage mandate

Every dawn editorial cycle should identify 3–6 hot stories across:

- BC politics and local government
- National Canadian politics, including Mark Carney / federal Liberal accountability where newsworthy
- OneBC / Dallas Brodie / BC conservative movement coverage, with official sources plus mainstream verification
- Taxes, affordability, housing, immigration, public spending, government overreach, crime/courts
- Finance/economy and small business concerns
- Medical/healthcare, hospitals, wait times, addiction/overdose policy, public-health accountability
- Sports and major BC/Canada events, including FIFA World Cup Vancouver impacts
- Human-interest / common-man / underdog stories

## Saturday feature mandate

Every Saturday morning, prepare deeper feature packages:

1. One national Canada hot topic of the week.
2. One BC hot topic of the week.
3. Optional third feature if a story is highly searchable or urgent.

Each feature should include: source trail, key facts, conservative/solution-oriented angle, opposing argument, unanswered questions, search keywords, headline options, social snippets, and what would make the story stronger.

## Source and fact-check rules

- Social posts, party pages, and campaign materials are leads and perspective sources, not proof.
- Use official/government/court/regulator/company pages, mainstream reporting, and primary documents where available.
- Clearly label opinion, analysis, allegations, and claims.
- Do not copy full articles; summarize briefly and link to the original source.
- Do not publish private addresses, personal phone numbers, family details, or harassment prompts.
- Avoid defamation: say who claims what, cite sources, and preserve uncertainty.
- Do not send outreach emails without Chris approval.

## SEO / keyword practice

Every story package should include natural keywords such as: BC news, British Columbia politics, Canada politics, taxes, affordability, immigration, healthcare, housing, government overreach, Mark Carney, Dallas Brodie, OneBC, Vancouver FIFA, BC crime, BC courts, taxpayer accountability, cost of living Canada.

Avoid keyword stuffing. Use keywords in titles, meta descriptions, headings, and source-note text naturally.
